Bourne Footlights have been entertaining playgoers from Bourne and the surrounding area for many years with performances that have enthralled, delighted, and amused those who have seen them.
Casts for the plays are drawn from local amateur actors who give their time freely, using their talents to give great pleasure to their audiences. Amateur they may be, but performances are of a consistently high standard, showcasing considerable local talent.
This season’s autumn offering is a new Comedy / Murder / Mystery / Farce / Whodunnit, specially written and directed by Footlights member Alan Boyer.
What’s it about?
Well, the 24th Baron Sodbury has been murdered to death. He may have been the Lord of the Manor, but everyone hated him. In fact, to prove it, he has been slaughtered in a most brutal and violent way. His family, his staff, even his guests, all have a motive to murder him.
But who killed him in such a ruthless way? And did they act alone? Or was it a Conspiracy of Death?
But just who, or what, is "the Superintendent"? And what is Cook going to do with her meat cleaver and a warm rice pudding?
Throw in a French Femme Fatale in her underwear, and a surprising choice of night attire by others, and you get a mixed bag of suspects to wade through - one, some, or none of whom may be a killer.
Not to mention the Parlour Maids … no, really, please don’t mention the Parlour Maids.
One lone man, The Inspector (and his Sergeant) has the daunting task of interviewing the eccentric and frankly completely bonkers suspects to find the murderer or murderers. Between you and me, it’s a bit of a toss-up as to whether they’ll come to a satisfactory conclusion, or not.
Will you work out the truth before they do? Probably…..
